BASSETERRE, St Kitts -- CARIFORUM is in the early stages of opening Caribbean markets to architects, interior designers and engineers in the European Union through negotiation of an Economic Partnership Agreement. A Mutual Recognition Agreement is to be negotiated shortly to allow architects free movement of services between the CARIFORUM countries and all the countries of the European Union.
Two representatives of St Kitts-Nevis Institute of Architects, Wycliffe Morton (president) and Calvin Pemberton (vice president), attended a meeting in Curaçao on 11 - 12 June 2010. The meeting was sponsored by the government of Curaçao, the European Union and Caribbean Export Development Agency. The regional meeting was organized in the framework of the CARIFORUM/FCOR/OCT Task Force on Trade and Investment.
The stated objective of the meeting was to foster greater integration of the regional network of architects and interior designers, enhancement and implementation of the roadmap for Caribbean architects and interior designers and the promotion replica watches replica watches replica watches of competitiveness of Caribbean Architects and Interior Designers.
The goal of organizing Caribbean Architects is to create a negotiating body and build consensus for moving forward the negotiations rolex replica watches rolex replica watches rolex replica watches with the EU and Architects Council for Europe with CARIFORUM.
The regional bodies representing architects in the region and present at the meeting were Federation of Caribbean Association of Architecture (FCAA) and Association of Commonwealth Societies of Architects in the Caribbean (ACSAC), Colegio Domincano de Ingenieros, Arquitectos y Agrimensores (CODIA)with representation of Unie van Architecten in Suriname (UAS), Dutch Caribbean (SAIA) and the British Virgin Islands.
St Kitts and Nevis is represented in both FCAA and ACSAC which are coming together in conjunction with CARIFORUM to negotiate with the European Commission to negotiate a Mutual Recognition Agreement which has been agreed to in principle by the regional architecture bodies.
